We're Looking for Funny Stuff!
Are you interested in submitting something to Monkey Spit?
Monkey Spit is looking for artists and writers!
Guidelines:
What we don't want: Another feature like the ones we already have.
What we do want: Another regular weekly comic strip of some kind; single gags that we can drop in around the site (fake ads, fake sites for the Site Of The Week feature, spot cartoons); and text. We need funny text pieces. Articles, columns, essays, stories, reviews, interviews, etc. Again, both regular features and occasional spot pieces.
We are working on adding a series of online mini-comics of about four to six pages. We're interested in all genres, though our primary focus is on humor.
Any particular style? Yours, preferably. We're just looking for funny stuff... We intend to keep the site pretty much PG, so if you want to be smutty, aim over the kids' heads. We're looking for both regular features and occasional spot pieces. So submit something already.
Payment? Hey, we don't even get paid! No, there's no money for anybody yet. There are lot of other reasons to be a part of the Monkey Spit Experience, however... it's a place to show off your stuff to the world; there are message boards where you can talk to the readers about your work; Monkey Spit is and will always be pop-up free; and most importantly, if we use your work, we'll send you a Monkey Spit t-shirt!
Note: The t-shirt offer does not apply to submitting ideas for existing features. In other words, if you send in suggestions for the Misfortune Cookie or for one of the comic strips, you don't get a shirt. You have to actually sit down and write or draw or otherwise create a complete feature for the site. A complete web page for the Site of the Week feature would be worth a shirt, while a couple of one-liners for the Misfortune Cookie would not. Don't try to hustle us, okay?
If you're looking for a showcase for your own stuff (humor preferred, but goofy/weird/surreal is okay too), e-mail your proposal to our fearless leader, King Louie, at kinglouie@monkeyspit.net. He's not as bad as he sounds....
